King Edward Skate Plaza
"Nottingham City Council and Woodhead's enthusiasm to work so closely with us is welcome and quite unique, and we see this addition to Nottingham's estate of skate facilities as a big step towards unlocking the potential of skateboarding to play a positive role in Nottingham's growth as a young, creative and active city." New skate park regenerates part of Nottingham's creative quarter
Forming part of their wider plans for the regeneration of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter and surrounding areas, Nottingham City Council instructed Woodhead Group to provide a fit for purpose skate park encouraging community involvement and health and wellbeing.
To enable Nottingham City Council to fully utilise their assets, a disused bowling green was converted into an award-winning skate park for community use, within just 4 weeks.
Robert Woodhead, delivered the new facility two weeks early and within the council’s strict budget.
Working collaboratively with community skateboarding organisation, Skate Nottingham and specialist skatepark design firm, CANVAS, a design that appeals to users of all skill levels was developed.
The new facility now features a selection of obstacles, bars, stairs and ledges. With skateboarding set to become an Olympic event and the sport gaining momentum rapidly, it is perfect for recreation or training.
Having this facility at St Ann's will provide the community with a wonderful space in which to socialise as well as to try this less traditional sport to get active.
